There is something so special about a wedding at Canoe Restaurant in Toronto. As soon as you step out of the elevator on the 54th floor the views of Toronto and the CN Tower hit you hard. Canoe is a smaller venue so weddings feel more intimate. Canoe has a separate ceremony space from the main restaurant, it leads to such an inviting flow for a wedding day. The wedding of Joyce and Stephen was so wonderful to document, it was full of laughter, reunited friends and new friendships. Stephen and Joyce didn’t stop smiling and laughing the whole way through the day, it was an absolute pleasure to document. With weddings I’m increasingly drawn to documenting couples exactly as they are. With portraits I keep them relaxed so that couples can be themselves and recognize themselves in the images afterwards, for the rest of the day I document as an observer mixing and blending with guests and creating images that show the feel of the day. I want couples to look back at their photos in 30 years time and be instantly transported back to their day. I’m also trying to get better at choosing less images to put in a blog so here are 32 of my favourite images from the day (I was aiming for 20 settled for 30 and had to add two in at the last minute!)
