I was very excited when Beth and Matt reached out to me via East Coast Pop Up Weddings in Nova Scotia. They planned to elope with close family in a suite at The Muir Hotel and then take a tour around Halifax Harbour on a boat. Matt had spent many hours as a Captain on one of the tour boats in Halifax Harbour. He was adamant that somehow they needed to include boats and Halifax Harbour in their wedding. When they first reached out to me to photograph their wedding, the particulars of the boat were very much still in question, but I knew that I wanted to be part of their wedding day. The boat they settled on was the Violet Mac from Halifax Harbour Tours. It’s an adorable little wooden electric boat. Their wedding day arrived and Beth and Matt started the day in their suite at The Muir Hotel. It was a simple wedding ceremony with close family and friends. The flowers were beautifully done by Two Birds One Stone Farm. After their wedding ceremony, everyone celebrated with Champagne before Beth and Matt took a walk through downtown Halifax, to Halifax Harbour and a boat ride out to George’s Island Lighthouse. We took most of Beth and Matt’s wedding photos on the boat during the tour of Halifax Harbour but also took a few outside the Muir Hotel. Beth and Matt then headed back to the Muir Hotel for a dinner reception with their families. Shooting small simple elopements like this are among my favourite ways to create wedding photos. Intimate occasions always lead to wonderfully intimate photographs.
