I first met Ashley and Greg in the bar at The Broadview Hotel. I knew instantly that this would be a wonderful wedding to be part of. Greg and Ashley’s priorities for their wedding were exactly in line with what I love about photographing weddings. The day was about their families and friends, and about celebrating their relationship. My number one priority when I photograph is to document the love between my couples and their families. Showing how people feel about each other is always one of the most satisfying parts of my job. I also love photographing portraits that are casual, timeless, candid and not overly posed.
A Broadview Hotel wedding had been on my bucket list to photograph for a while, mainly because I’m obsessed with neon signs! I also wanted to shoot here because it has such a stylish and relaxed atmosphere. It couldn’t have suited Ashley and Greg’s characters better. I’m finding that evening weddings are becoming increasingly popular. Rather than a sit-down dinner, Greg and Ashley chose to see each other before the ceremony on the balcony at The Broadview Hotel. This was followed by portraits before a simple ceremony and a night of cocktails, and conversation. This format for a wedding leaves so much room for wonderful interactions and is a joy to photograph. Editing down the images I shoot into a manageable blog post is never easy, but here are a few of my favourites!
If you enjoyed this wedding, you might also enjoy this smaller and equally as classy wedding at Canoe. Or this wedding at The Chase. I also have a slideshow of some of my favourite images over the last couple of years here.
