Lunenburg, Nova Scotia Engagement Photos

Lunenburg is nestled on the South Shore of Nova Scotia’s Atlantic coastline. It is one of the most perfect little fishing towns in Atlantic Canada. Its colourful houses, quaint little streets and original wharf with multiple piers makes it the ideal location for photographing couples and engagements. For Sally and Will’s engagement photos, we started on one of the piers and then worked our way around Lunenburg, exploring and photographing. When I’m photographing engagement sessions, I like to create an environment where couples feel relaxed so that they interact naturally. This then leads to a set of engagement photographs that are unique and true to each couple. Sally and Will are not originally from Lunenburg, so it was a fun evening exploring the town together and creating this set of images.

We began just before sunset and finished right at dusk. This is often one of my favourite times to photograph, especially on an evening like this. I find that in Nova Scotia, the light is so soft and direct right after sunset. The luxury of shooting engagement photos is that you get to pick the best time of day to shoot. One of my favourite photographs from this set was taken right at the end of the shoot. Will and Sally were both watching the last colours in the sky as the day turned to dusk; they both looked so content and happy in that moment. It’s always such a pleasure being able to get to know people and to share sunsets and discover new places with them.
